REECE REEVES

Jazz Over Mind

Randomly given the albums The Jazz Singer by Neil Diamond and Heart Over Mind by Anne Murray, the objective of this project was to create a single mash-up album using only material (typography, color, imagery, etc.) found within the two original albums.

Beat the Binary

The goal of this project was to take a famous design work from before World War II and redesign it with a modern take. I chose El Lissitsky’s “Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge” (1919), changing the colors and type to address the current threats to transgender rights in the US.

Dante’s Rebrand

For this project, I chose to rebrand Dante’s Pizzeria, a local Chicago establishment whose branding needed some help. I created a mark representing the nine circles of Dante’s Hell while using blackletter type to evoke the exaggerated penmanship of Dante’s time.

Decomposition

This was a combined Typography and Printmaking project. Having researched the typeface P22 Bayer (also called P22 Bauhaus), I used its letterforms to make a Risograph zine. I focused on Bauhaus design principles, exaggerating the geometry of the typeface to create my abstract (de)composition.

SQREEN

SQREEN is a magazine about queer media and fan culture, with a focus on digital media. I sourced some articles from other publications and wrote a couple of my own, curating my interests into a publication that demonstrates my talents as well as the importance of telling queer stories.
